BONGOS restaurant located near the National Taiwan University in a small lane. This place is not easy to find, but one time when you go in to the restaurant having a meal and feeling the decorations, you will come again. The restaurant is divided into three parts: the dining room, the lounge room, and the wide balcony where grows plants and wood surround the tables for a totally relaxing environment.

The day I went to BONGOS, I forgot to book the table before, so I didn’t have choice to choose where I wanted to seat. Therefore, a waiter leaded me to the balcony with fresh air and a little hot wind! From my seat I can see the other room inside the building: the dining is just a dining room, nothing special; the lounge room has some comfortable sofas and two or three big bookcases with a lot of foreign books, and the decoration in this room gives customers comfortable and relaxing atmosphere; the third room where I was seated in is with some flowers and plants, and costumers can have their meals naturally and unrestrainedly.

The owner and also the chief of BONGOS is Andrew, he is from Canada. When I asked him why he wanted to opened this restaurant, he said:” It’s because every time I go to eat western meal, the food is not only bad tasting but also expensive!!” So he insists making delicious meal and charging fair money.

Then, I will introduce some representative meals about BONGOS. They offer Mexican food, fresh cut fries, falafel, burgers, pasta, and beer. In these variable meals, Mexican food and burgers are popular with the most of customers. If you want to have some exotic food, you can try some Mexican food like chicken cheese pie; or if you are very hungry, you can have a luxury burger with hand-cut fresh fries. The menu will give you many information and advices about the meal and it can help you to choose what you want to order. When you order a main meal, there are a glass of drink and salad or soup or fries for additional meals. I have a strong suggestion ordering fries and add twenty dollars upgrading cheese fries, and you can taste the sweet-smelling cheese with fresh fries. The size of every meal is plentiful, it is enough for a person to finish one.

This is a great place for friends or couples, not only the atmosphere the restaurant gives you, but also they offer great meals and nice charge.

閑靜的公館後巷有個美食天地Bongos。可別被這附近到處林立的西餐廳給搞昏頭了,Bongos才是真正料好實在的最佳選擇。

有多年經驗的加拿大籍主廚老闆安德魯說:「我每次出去吃西餐的經驗都很糟,不是難吃就是貴得要命。」安德魯說到做到,他開了一家全台北無人企及的餐廳:用餐空間寬闊,漢堡配上健康薯條,價格合理的進口啤酒,以及250元以下的超值西餐 (注意,不加服務費哦)。


Bongos 的菜單從魚排薯條(180元)到德國香腸(180元)和雞肉起司餅(200~240元) 無所不包。筆者最喜愛的是Bongo起司漢堡(180元)。全麥麵包裡夾的是手工漢堡排,再加上溶化的高達起司,佐以大量Bongos獨家醬料─用香料調製的蒜泥蛋黃醬。主餐盤中的配菜可有多種選擇:親手切製的薯條、馬鈴薯沙拉和田園沙拉(以上等萵苣、甜椒和特醬汁製成)。對於素食者,Bongos也有一些美味選項如:蔬菜捲餅、每日一湯、素漢堡等等。

另外得一提的是,這兒有一個可容納十到二十人聚會的包廂,還有書籍買賣,本地藝術展覽,以及微風徐來的戶外用餐區,週日夜晚在此飲一瓶生力啤酒,一口提拉米蘇,最適意不過了。


雖然不在大馬路旁,自開張以來,Bongos川流不息的客人即為受歡迎的明證。事先訂位係明智之舉,尤其在週末。還有,要有心理準備,最少需要等個的二到五分鐘,因為所有食物都是現點現做。雖然地點可能有點不太好找,但是亮著溫暖燈光的花園一定會把你帶到這裡,而使你腸胃滿足的料理也會吸引你一再上門。
